Step 1: Visit a Maine-licensed medical provider. Maine law allows physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants to recommend cannabis.

Step 2: If the provider determines cannabis may help, they will issue a written certification.

Step 3: Register with the Office of Cannabis Policy to receive your patient card.

Step 4: Use your certification to purchase cannabis from a licensed dispensary or caregiver.

For minors: A parent or guardian must act as the registered caregiver.
