Protections:

• • Registered patients are protected from criminal penalties for lawful possession and use.
  • Employment protections exist for qualifying patients (with exceptions for safety-sensitive positions).

Penalties for Violations:

• • Possession above limits or public use in prohibited areas can lead to fines or misdemeanor charges.
  • Federal law still prohibits cannabis on federal property.
